"He" is used as a placeholder when the gender is unknown, and being based off of a male means nothing. Cars and ships aren't women despite being referred to as "she" *shrug*

*shrug* If you want to talk in metaphorical terms, then yeah, a robot can be "male" or "female", but in literal physical terms? Nope, genderless.
